This is one of many flowers known by the popular name, “dusty miller.” This one has tiny yellow flowers and silvery foliage, botanical name Senecio cineraria (family Asteraceae – daisy family). I loved the way the bumblebee stood out against the bright golden yellow and so took lots of photos as he boogied among the flowers. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/8, 1/250 sec., ISO 200, overcast, handheld)

Lovely! Please consider adding this to the Bee and Wasp Passions group and Bugs and Animals on Flowers in Macro group.

  • Thanks very much! I will take a look at those groups.

Celeste, this is just a stunner…. the clarity of that happy not-so-little bee is incredible and, of course, the sea of yellows and golds is just a treat for the eye. The flowers must be very tiny indeed as Mr. Bee manages to cover one with this entire body!

  • Thanks, Katherine. Yes, the flowers are tiny. All the curly stamens show up here, but you wouldn’t notice them when looking at the flower out in the field.
