I captured this image at a special “Photographers Night” at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California. Imagine 300 photographers, no screaming kids, and thoughtfully placed black curtains to block some reflections. Fun! (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/2.2, 1/250 sec., ISO 1600, handheld)

  • Thank you, Sherri! Yes, the moon jellies really are unique with their ghostly whitish glow against the black background in their tank. Tough to photograph, too, but I get a fair amount of practice because I’m a member of the aquarium and it’s only about a mile from home.

Fascinating! Wow! That’s terrific that they had a “Photographer’s Night” – what a terrific idea!!

  • Thank you very much, Mieke! Yes, the Photographer’s Night is a good idea. The aquarium partners with a local camera store for these events.
