A vibrant anthurium captured inside a tropical greenhouse. Light in the greenhouse is heavily filtered, so this was taken at ISO 800. Texture courtesy of Shadowhouse Creations.

This is absolutely gorgeous, Celeste. The color is so vivid and the clarity is second to none and I don’t see any noise for an ISO of 800. Your texture is perfect to really contrast, but not take away from, the gorgeous red…. Just outstanding and definite fave.

Brings back fond memories, Celeste. When we were kids mum use to grow lots of these. Splendid shot and a beautiful colour.

  • Many thanks, Ralph! I associate anthuriums with Hawaii, but they grow well in many tropical and semi-tropical climates. My fascination with this one was the coral color, as compared to the versions we see more commonly in florist shops here in the USA, tending to be bright red.

I love the color and shape of this one Celeste. I have never seen one like this before. Wonderfully photographed. :-)

  • Thanks very much, Nick. I was attracted to the color when I saw several of these in the greenhouse. Another photo friend who knows a lot about tropical plants later confirmed that this is a rare variety of anthurium.
