I was scouting potential macro photos of a very large poinsettia plant (about 8 feet high) at my local botanical garden when I came upon this grasshopper. He had been poking holes in a bract (note the white globs of milky sap) and gave me such a mean glare when I moved in close to photograph him. Have you ever seen such a menacing look in an insect’s eyes? :) (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/7.1, 1/60 sec, ISO 400, filtered late morning sun, handheld)
