I was wandering around Shoreline Village, a tourist attraction by the water in Long Beach, California. The buildings there are quaint and painted in various candy colors. I came upon a shop that had recently been repainted, but it was the pipe contraption painted in matching purple that caught my attention. It brought to mind the Prince hit, “Purple Rain.” (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/6.3, 1/250 sec., ISO 200, afternoon sun, handheld)

  • Thank you, Manon. I guess it is a little weird, but sometimes weird things grab my attention and demand to have their picture made. :)

I know this would have been irresistible for me too.. a wonderful find, Celeste!

  • Thanks very much, Joseph! I turned a corner, saw this purple thing and simply had to stop. I tried lots of angles (and got a few strange looks from passers-by), but this was my favorite. :)

I just wonder if the valve is not paint stuck!!! A wonderful capture!!! Bill

  • I’ll bet it is paint stuck! The same thing occurred to me at the time, and it looked like a very new paint job. Thanks very much, Bill!
