Impressionist Christmas by Celeste Mookherjee

This started as a photograph (my own, of course) of a Christmas tree at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, and I made every effort to create an image that was not in focus. Inspired by the impressionist painters, I made the image even more blurred during processing and added some pointillist effects using my own customized settings in Alien Skin Snap Art. (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/4.5, 1/25 sec, ISO 400, indoor lighting, handheld)

Dedicated to all my wonderfully artistic RB friends who provide so much encouragement and inspiration!

It reminds me of stained glass! Really an awesome idea and card!

  • Thank you, Kristi! I’ve had quite a few blurry Christmas trees in my archives for a while now, just waiting for me to create something from them. :)

What a wonderful Christmas Card, Celeste!!! Fabulous textures filled with light and dappled with sprinkles, with a flourish of bokeh lights… fave for selling a bunch!!!

  • I’m so glad you like this, Susan! I was working on it yesterday and was really happy when I hit upon a certain combination of effects that seemed especially festive.

    Love the Bokeh!!!

  • Thank you, Kamal! I originally photographed the tree out of focus purposely to get those bokeh lights. :)
