Sometimes bees look precariously positioned, as this one does trying to hold onto very slender parts of an orange flame vine (native to South America, botanical name in the tags). This is an immature flower that will soon turn bright orange. (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/6.3, 1/50 sec, ISO 400, bright overcast, handheld)

They do have a tenacity when after all that pollen! Lovely capture, Celeste:) Sandy

  • Indeed they are tenacious, and also single-minded. :) They don’t even seem to be bothered much by a photographer getting fairly close. Thank you, Sandy!

Lovely macro, great color contrasts and detail!

  • Thanks very much, Angie! I was actually photographing the flowers when the bee invited itself into the scene.
