I photographed these leaves at the Self Realization Fellowship’s Lake Shrine (Pacific Palisades, California). It’s a beautiful and peaceful retreat from the city, full of simple joys that reveal themselves to those who will stop and pay attention to nature’s small wonders. (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/3.5, 1/80 sec., ISO 400, open shade, handheld)

This is amazingly beautiful Celeste ~ with a display of such beautiful colours…..
I agree with what you write …. so often the most wondrous elements of our world can be overlooked ~ because either they are so tiny ~ or we just don’t take the time to stop and appreciate….

  • I know you understand, Sharon, because I see appreciation of small wonders in your work. If only everyone could enrich their experience of life by becoming more attuned to all the beautiful little things. :) Thank you, Sharon!

Such beauty is often overlooked, isn’t it? Outstanding color and detail, Celeste.

  • Thank you very much, Katherine! You are so right. I once overheard someone at the botanical garden complaining to his girlfriend that January was a lousy time to visit because there was nothing to see. I made this image on January 2nd. For those of us who are serious about photography, there is always something to see. :)
