The beach at sunrise can be a source of serenity – and some special images. On this particular morning at Alamitos Beach (Long Beach, California) the tide had created beautiful patterns in the sand, and I came across many objects caught in the sand patterns. (Olympus E-300 & Zuiko 35mm macro), f/7.1, 1/320 sec., ISO 400, very early morning light, handheld)

Time for reflection . . your title and subject matter harmonise so well .. . this is such an evocative piece of work . .x

  • Thank you so much, Teresa! You seem to be responding to what I felt as I walked the beach that morning and found such wonders, and I’m so glad some of that feeling comes through in this image.

Beautiful lines just flow together – you can almost see the water even though it has receded. Wonderful!

  • Many thanks, Jan! The sand was still very wet and displaying some amazing patterns drawn by the tide.
