Don't Pass Me By– a song of praise
Thank God that the “life successful” does not depend upon me. I’m sunk if that’s all I have, because I know don’t have what it takes. I’m up the river without a paddle– without a boat, for that matter, if I can’t depend upon an abundantly able Savior.
Jesus is all my strength and support
I guess you could say, as many unbelievers have to me, “Your Jesus is a crutch for the weak”. Perhaps– but what a magnificent crutch to lean upon! The truth is, you simply think you are strong, whereas, I’ve been convinced I am weak. Even now, as I write out my little reflections, I’m so worn out– and in a lot of trouble.
There is trouble on every side.
I don’t like feeling powerless, but I am. I’m unable to escape this mess I’m in. All of us tend to want to handle life on our own terms, and in our own pitiful strength. He has ways of opening our eyes to our inability to fight our battles. It’s all about His glory and renown, the good times, and the bad. May the Lord make His face shine upon us, and restore us for His namesake.
This is a praise song, a hymn I am putting also to music. The chorus is at bottom, and is designed to contrast the calming assurances given by the King. The melody and notations are still in my head. I have a friend in New York, hey Lazar!, who is a great musician and putting some of my stuff to music.
But aside from that, I am hoping the words by themselves can “hit home”, and bring needed comfort, if only to a few. There are many of us who are feeling trapped, overwhelmed right now. Life has swept us up in its woeful net. Well, smile, little fish– Our King is a Protector. He doesn’t like bullies or plunderers. He’s strong to save those hoping in His mercy.
Don't Pass Me By– a song of praise belongs to the following groups:
Living ChristianityIt breaks my heart to hear you say
your future’s not so bright.
The lies you tell yourself by day
can steal your sleep at night.
Don’t you think I’ve heard your cries–?
I have, my child, and I’m on your side!
It’s not your fight, do you understand?
It’s mine. Only trust in me, abide.
With one command, His angels rise,
a mighty lion’s pride.
And in the lead, a roaring Lion,
the Head of every tribe– make way,
The King is passing by!
The King is passing by!
Your eyes shall behold the King, in all His fierce wild beauty.
Listen soul, He sees you there. He knows you’re scared,
that you know not what to do.
His arms are strong, you’re safe inside. You can trust
Him who died for you.
He says to you–
I’ve taken up your cause, just as I always have,
since the day you first drew near to Me.
Do not fear. Don’t shed a tear.
You have the victory.
Wait believing upon the Victor Sure.
The battle’s mine, be certain, assured.
I’ve already won the war!
At My command, the Host shall rise
I am the Head of Every Tribe
All knees shall bow, and tongues confess
that I am both Lord and Christ.
I’m forever Jesus Christ.
I’m forever Jesus Christ.
I’m the King, mighty in battle, bringing to pass your
dreams, always on your side.
I’m the King, stronger than death, lay your hands upon
these wounds I bear, in Me alone confide.
When I roar the demons flee, they know what’s in store.
None cannot stand, all scatter wide.
When I roar from Zion’s hill, lift up your head– endure.
Nothing can hurt a child of mine.
(chorus)
Lion of Judah, roar my name,
up from these depths to You I cry.
King of Glory, rescue me, or I will die.
Arm of Jehovah, put on strength,
as in ancient days gone by.
Let those who love you
praise Your name, oh, save my life.
Lord, don’t pass me by!
