Ode to my Dentist

Inspired by a visit to my dentist who I suspect of overcharging. Republished in written work from an early journal entry.

My teeth are shining
x-rays reveal root of all
bank balance decay

    Quite witty. ‘The root of all evil is money’ is the saying isn’t it.

    I like the way the last line is kind of an answer and a statement, it feels like a song lyric to me.

    I found your description notes amusing…

    Thanks, Davoid. I had that “root of all evil” saying in mind when this haiku occured to me.

    I also try to make the last line of my haiku something that changes the meaning of the lines before, making you re-evaluate what you have just read. Not everyone seems to notice what I am aiming for though!

    Oh, I didn’t realise it was a haiku. Sticking to the 5/7/5 syllables makes it a challenge.

    If people aren’t realising, it could be you are not obvious, which is a good thing.
