Melbourne Painted Brick Wall Photograph - "Red" by

The gorgeous red wall of a chinese Restaurant (“the Bamboo House”)in Melbourne caught my eye. It was also very glossy after a recent downpour of rain.

Captured with my Pentax K100D camera.

My first thought was that you used a flash and that made the round shine shape. I wasn’t sure if it would’ve been better without the shine. But then I was looking at it some more and I think it adds some contrast and interest…so I’m vacillating.
I do like the dark red painted bricks. That red is my favourite of the reds. Its like a skin of a creature.

Funny, I had that kind of feeling too about the shine. Sometimes I look at it and think it is too destracting but then I step back and look at it as a whole and decided it added to the composition.

The flash fired automatically. I had no idea how shiny the wall was until it did. But then I decided I liked the shot I got so I decided not to reshoot.

Really funny, that’s the first thing I thought when I saw the image, “wow, that’s shiny” I really like the shot, I think the shine makes it unique.

I think the 3 circles work together. There’s a circle in the window, in the wall, and in the flash. without the flash i think my eye would have been bouncing back and forth between the other two circles. and the red is thick and dense. a blood red. Thick is the word. I Like the composition and the window is intriguing.
