I couldn’t resist playing a bit with this image, that otherwise would be of no interest, but think I really like it as a digital oil painting. Also wanted to do this one in memory of.
This is Little Red & Morph, last week we had visitors in the night, and I lost 5 of my chickens! Iritating, but the wild animals do what wild animals do, search for food during the night! So one can’t blame them. It does make me a bit sad!
Morph is Deckers little buddy, and Decker was sad all day, too!
You can read Decker’s, and Morph’s story here
A little more history on this brood. My chickens will always be wild, and free. This is just 2 of close to 21 generations of the same brood! Yes, they do have a chicken house, but they would rather roost in the trees, as most all birds do.
First starting out I penned my chickens up at night, but soon found out that in the wilderness this made them sitting ducks for the wildlife so to speak.
My chickens are as free range as free range can be, and they live a natural life, as a chicken is supposed to live, and unknown to most they are very intelligent creatures!
From time to time as with all animals, the sick, the weak, the oldest, and some just not willing to learn from their ancesters will fall prey to the nature of things.
I truly enjoy watching, and learning from my wild chickens! They are amazing creatures! The US has had such a scare with a salmonella outbreak in its egg industry.
Thats on thing I will never have to worry about! For todays time, one can’t get a fresher, or more natural egg! Gather it from the nest, and enjoy it for breakfast :))x
