At sun down the herders walked their goats over the tracks, along the platform and into town to be stabled for the night

All these shots of life on the Indian railways are just fascinating.

  • thanks Gerry. It was a lucky break. The train was 4 hours late, so we were forced to camp on the platform. Though I look a lot of photos of the fascinating locals, they were equally entranced with us (especially my blond daughter aged 8 who they continually touched!). We attracted a great crowd of admirers.

I would love to visit India, The images from there are wonderful, as is this one
My eldest son did a mountain survival course a few years ago, based in Darjeeling, he then crossed the country by rail back to Mombai

  • that sounds wonderful. India really is so easy. Friendly, endless options / colour / smells / photo ops. And they speak better english than most brits!
