Go ahead and eat me
For you are the reasons of teeth and claw
You are the cries of reality is
You are a killer of whales
Because you can
Because you care not with your mighty ways
Because you are a hunger that feeds aimlessly
Because you love greed
Because your ego is sick
Because you die daily into nothing in order to exist
Because your mother is your food
Because you are lifeless at the heart of the world feeds you
Because your future is futile
Because your truth has no known equilibrium
Because you love these words
Because you feel them stab you
Because you bleed
Because your extinction matters not
Because you want to be as brave as dying
Because … you understand this poem still
You have no cause to own the deeds that you are
Because life’s carcass holds no sacred value to you
Because you cannot kill yourself with your own reasons
Because you are a coward in the oceans of selfishness
And I am just the whale of poems
And you hate poems
And you do not even care if your own soul is hunted
For you are the predator who fears to admit
You are the very same prey

Oh my goodness…C.C – you have me in tears and sick to my stomach..god, I feel my heart bleeding. I just don’t have the words…
Thank you for being you. For sharing your words, your soul. You are amazing.
Powerful powerful writing.
A WHALE OF A POEM IS RIGHT! Your words are feeding, gnawing, snagging, bleeding, gutting, and true inside-out and outside-in. Thank you again for handing our souls to us on a plate of truth! You are an outstanding poet!

Kristy, I hear your torn emotions across the world and throughout her bodies of water. I’m humbled by your compliments. I must be, for it is not about me. It is about us all and our accountability to her. I hope these few words can make at least a small difference.
Mariam, It is not with pleasure I pen such harsh and pointed lines of poetry. Yet, the whales cries should not be passively dismissed. And I must also say that your comment (,,,handing our souls to us on a plate of truth!) is poetry in and of itself.
wonderfull writing tears trickle down my face as i read the powerful words
Thank you hennie
so happy you found this so moving and also thought enough to care and comment!

The death of whales tears my heart in shreds …. they are the wonderful beautiful souls of the planet … they are the overseers … the guardians … I bleed as they bleed ………your words are such truth – thank you

Hi micmac,
Sorry it took so long to reply to you here, Thank you for understanding the harshness on this poem and the voice it. I know this one does not sing to the choir.

Wow, I love this. I like the way it turns in on the reader, it’s very self-aware and could make you feel very uncomfortable, and the concluding lines are perfect. Excellent work.
The whale needs a voice too! Plus worker are like the whale, the middle class is like the whale, the poor are like the whale. Like Janis Joplin says “Cryyyyyy Baby”!
Thank you Rhiannon
