Once
upon a Gift
there was a flower no one picked.
She blossomed in the spring
on planet Far;
it had nine moons.
Its twenty-two seas
were full
of Smiles.
Big ones.
Little ones.
And the smallest ones were Sighs.
Its mountain caps
were born to sleep.
It deserts talked to Gods.
Its skies were always busy making
wonder
out of rusty tears.
And the way
Far spun
was more
like dancing,
than just
turning
around.
And on the planet Far
were many
life forms born in jars.
The gift?
Her name was Nicely.
No one ever saw her twice.
Just
before
they met her
and just
beyond
they left,
they saw
themselves
inside her,
but her joy
made them
fear death.
This never up-set Nicely.
This never made her doubt.
She had a way of being here.
And the secrets
to how Life
comes back.

you have the most beautiful way with words, I’ve not ever encountered anything like it, I’m so glad we met
wonderful indeed CC! well done my friend!
This piece is just so unique to most of what I’ve shared here on RB.
I do have a collection of children’s writings that go I started over 25 years ago. Plans to publish them someday, hopefully within the next year, are very strong. Actually, one of the reasons I was so moved to admire and love your line drawings was that the illustrations I have thought of using to go into this book are all black ink on white paper line drawings. As Far as this piece goes, if you look into my fav’s of Karin’s work, and read them you would see the influences and inspirational forces of this work. Thanks for the feature from the bottom of my heart’s sea and top of my gratitudes mountain; even from my deserts of love. ~cc

oh congratulations on your feature CC!!
Well guess who deserves a slice of this congratulation’s pie?
So Congratulations, oh inspirational one!

oh, this is so beautiful, kind and awesome! I will have to check her out. beautiful!
Accourding to her comments and some humbling b-mails, I think she is shy of fully realizing the avenue of genius her writings (check my fav’s + read feature reply above) have creatively touched upon and opened into. Thank you, thank you, thank you Kristin! I was awed by her bravery of play.

im not saying this is bad piece… but i think you have better in you… always remember to let the readers see the intricacies of your complex mind.. and its poetical expression
Oh I LOVE this comment! And oh … Yes this one goes off the map from where I usually go here.
Yet from within my body of work (95% not here on this site) my writings do span a vast eclectic expanse. from twisted and graphic macabre through nature, observational social behavior, body/mind soul writings and lyric writing on through to children’s poems and nursery rhymes. I hope you find the time to check out the Love Lines and The UnderCousious series. Both are experimental to a certain degree. I deeply value your choice to add my work here to your watch list. And the wealth of your literary perspective is something I treasure. One thing i would like to share with you dear new RB friend Thomas, about how I write what and from where via this mind that I’ve spent most of my life harvesting is, I probably know more about what I do not know and what i do not try to be, than what I think I know, or what I Know I know. Love to you! Peace of mind to you and penned gifts, and see you around. Thanks again for the honest critique tucked into the beautiful complement! I probably could share work and talk to you for hours,
