Recently, I was reminded there was one ship I forgot from my registry series: the first purpose built science vessel seen on screen – the USS Grissom. The only official vessel assigned to probe and examine the Genesis Planet, the Grissom was lost with most of her crew, save for Dr. David Marcus and Lt. Saavik, when a Klingon Bird of Prey attacked and destroyed her.
