In the movie James Bond movie Goldfinger, we meet the aptly named Auric Goldfinger (who name does sound like a French nail varnish), along with his deadly bowler-wielding sidekick OddJob, who’s illegally smuggling gold and other valuable commodities. However, his obsession with gold leads him to devise Operation Grand Slam, a plan to irradiate the United States’ gold depository at Fort Knox with a nuclear device – a plan which 007 thwarts. We then see Goldfinger meet an untimely yet appropriate end when he’s sucked out of an airplane window after inadvertently firing a gun through said plane’s fuselage.
But what if he just escaped, or never met 007?
In the game Goldeneye Rogue Agent, we see an alternative universe where every Bond Villain to date is alive – and is linked to SPECTRE and Ernst Stavro Blofeld in some fashion. In the game, Goldfinger and Doctor Julius No go to war with each other, but Goldfinger has one advantage: you. As the player, you assume the role of a former MI6 agent that’s dismissed for unwarranted brutality while pursuing Doctor No for destroying your right eye. In return, Goldfinger, along with Pussy Galore and Francisco Scaramanga, aka “The Man With The Golden Gun”, provide you with a new device, the Goldeneye, capable of EM vision through walls, computer hacking, shield generation, and magnetic field manipulation. Armed with this device, you go after Doctor No, and his right hand woman, Xenia Onatopp, in a mad dash to eliminate Doctor No and protect the latest invention from Auric enterprises – the OMEN (Organic Mass Energy Neutralizer), capable of disintegrating organic matter at the subatomic level, resulting in disintegration.
And as such, a new logo for Auric Enterprises was revealed in the game, so I thought I’d unveil it here in a form you would all enjoy. This is a large chest-sized version of the shirt, but it will also be available in a smaller pocket-sized version.
