For my 100th design upload, I wanted to upload something special. Truth be told, I had several designs in mind, but this one was the one I eventually chose.

For anyone that knows me, I love the sport of racing. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy most forms of sport, but racing speaks to me, which compelled me to recreate this logo for your enjoyment. So now, I present to you my 100th design.

The design is somewhat altered, with the center logo being more circular and less oblong.

In the world of Disney and Pixar’s Cars, racing is the most popular form of sport. The featured racing series in the first Cars movie was the Piston Cup Racing Series, similar to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. When I thought back to the first movie, I wanted to pay homage to it in my own way. And since the Piston Cup itself was not getting as much notoriety, I thought that should change, starting with the reconstruction of one of the primary logos.

Here, we see one of the logos from that series recreated, with some subtle enhancements, most notably the gold lining around the logo, replacing the original black lining. There are also some line enhancements so as to make some of the design elements pop out more, like the Piston Cup lettering and some elements of the representation of the Piston Cup itself.

This is my homage to one of the more notable Pixar movies. I hope you enjoy the design and choose to purchase a piece of clothing with this design I really enjoyed recreating (and in some cases, improving). And since this design works with any color, I chose to make it available in all colors. The default color shown is Lightning McQueen Red.

Chris is a roguishly handsome and seemingly well-dressed defender of truth and justice that just happens to be a freelance web and graphic designer.

Is there any chance a version of this could be done with the design lower down the shirt?

  • I’m sorry, but the placement is quite deliberate. Whenever I see most shirt designs, I feel like they are too low on the shirt, for fear they won’t be seen, or just won’t look strange at their current position. When I started designing shirts, I vowed to change that.

However, if enough requests come through asking me to lower it, I will.
