After the War by Christopher Barker

Posted on July 07, 2011

There is a documentary being made that features one of my self portraits that I took while deployed to Iraq, that I think everyone should check out. It is going to be an amazing work of art and I am super excited to be a part of it. It will focus primarily on what happens to soldiers after the return from war and the struggles they face in day-to-day life.

The director is trying to garner some monetary support, but even if you can’t donate money towards this awesome project, I highly encourage you to pass this on to someone else that you know will appreciate it as well.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and to check out a worthwhile film that will inform the public of the hardships faced by returning soldiers from the past and present.

As the wife of a still serving veteran this project speaks volumes to me. I’ll be very keen to see the finished product if we’re lucky enough to get it here in Australia when it’s completed.

I really believe that this sort of coverage is so important for all of those veterans who are struggling with finding their place in the world after their experiences. It brings us all that one step closer to understanding.

Fabulous to see your image there Chris :)

My sentiments exactly Rosemary, I couldn’t have said it better.

It is a strange juxtaposition between past and present when a soldier arrives home and an even stranger and more complex reality to be thrown into.

Thanks for taking the time to check out the project and thank your husband for his service as well. Who knows, this may get huge and make it across the pond and onto your shores. How cool would that be! Feel free to pass this link on to those who would benefit from such a film.

    I certainly have.

Thanks everyone who has taken the time to check this out.

If you stopped by Kickstarter and watched the current trailer for the documentary, I would love to hear some feedback. This is only a slice of what the documentary will hold and it has a ton of potential, so thoughts and ideas/ constructive criticism is always appreciated.

Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from some of you!
