Stryker

The driver of a Stryker armored vehicle, from the 172nd SBCT, Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, takes a moment to rest in the shade of a eucalyptus tree, out of his extremely warm driver’s hatch. Secure Iraqi Army outposts like this one in the outskirts of Mosul, Iraq, give soldiers a chance to relax while patrolling all over the city.

Thank you Paul. I don’t know if you saw the other B&W version, but I would be curious which one you personally prefer.

I’m surprised at my response, but I prefer the color version. not sure why. Might be that b&w can flatten out an image sometimes – takes the punch out.

This picture echoes fallen fighters – yet they are in fact relaxing. A disturbing juxtaposition.
