Stryker
The driver of a Stryker armored vehicle, from the 172nd SBCT, Ft. Wainwright, Alaska, takes a moment to rest in the shade of a eucalyptus tree, out of his extremely warm driver’s hatch. Secure Iraqi Army outposts like this one in the outskirts of Mosul, Iraq, give soldiers a chance to relax while patrolling all over the city.

They look tense, like they’re ‘trying’ to relax. As my wife just said, what are we doing to these people? It’s just a humanly impossible situation. I know a lot of these guys and women want to remain as human and humane as possible, but the stress level is so high it becomes impossible for some people. Thanks, cbarker. Thanks for your service to the country, for putting up with so much inhumanity and remaining human anyway, and for bringing us these glimpses into war life.
