This Cooper’s Hawk waited for an hour in a tree near my bird feeder in Kansas City, hoping for a meal of one the chickadees or cardinals. The birds stayed away, and the hawk flew away disappointed.
Wonderful capture, Catherine! I’m amazed at how bright the hawk is—even with the bright background. Mine usually comes out underexposed. Did you have to add some exposure compensation, or did you use a spotmeter? Congrats!
Thanks, Mitchell! I used the auto contrast feature on my photo editing program, which brightens the photo. For soem reason, this hawk only appears on gloomy days. I use a free program called picasa. One of these days I’ll spring for photoshop.
