In September 2007, a crowd gathered in the park along Brush Creek at the Country Club Plaza Shopping Center in Kansas City to watch floating fiery braziers, their blazes reflecting in the water. Ethereal music filled the air. This special event was to be held again in October, but had to be scrapped because of rainy weather.
The Plaza is the oldest shopping center in the United States. Its architecture is patterned after buildings in Seville, Spain. In the sky on the right, you can see the faint beams of light shining to the heavens in the “Steeple of Light” from the Community Christian Church, which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as the “Church of the Future.”
