This was created after looking at the stars through an incredible telescope which a friend let us use. We live in an area of France with no light pollution and it’s incredible the amount of stars we can see here.
I wanted to go beyond the non-existent limits I seem to have set myself somewhere along the line, hence the name Transcend. It also feels like you can look beyond this planet when you’re peering at the stars and get a feeling of how insignificant we really are.
Firstly I applied torn paper to create some texture to the background. I then applied the ‘ball’ shapes and covered them with string. The entire work was then painted using acrylics to which I mixed iridescent medium which plays beautifully with the light. It gives it a kind of pearlescent feel.e
