Works very well the painting with the fabric leaves…...great job! At first I thought the leaves we very accurately painted, after reading your remarks it became clear. But it still looks like they’re painted.

  • cathy savels replied

Hi Aari. The leaves are painted! LOL! I add them in fabric, then I paint them. I love to play with optical illusions, it seems it worked in your case. Hehe. The best is when people view my work from afar and think they’re looking at a flat painting, then they approach and they gasp as they see the texture. I love that. Hard to show that here.

LOL…you got me there alright! I thought there was something really odd with the painting…..but this is great fun. Next time I will be very careful on my comments with your work ;-)

The big juicy tomato just get s your attention, don’t it? Fantastic work and enjoyed my quick flit around your website. It’s great that you were inspired by the work and pastimes of your mother and father rather than some far flung tradition or some great artist that you seek to emulate, all valid but delighted that your inspiration was you parents.

  • cathy savels replied

It is pretty bright, something to do with the relationship between the red and the turquoise. I once painted a cupboard turquoise and lilac, only the lilac looked totally pink, it was a great lesson that colours can look different alongside others. My parents were both incredibly creative people and always making and doing and experimenting. I loved that.

  • cathy savels replied

Sorry, and I also meant to say a big thanks for passing by my website and taking the time to read. Glad you liked it.
