Sorry for the size of this one, my original was deleted by my “oh so helpful son” who was cleaning off my memory card for me, without asking I might add!
Anyhow, this was taken at Lincoln Woods, a state park in Lincoln, RI on March 1, 2008. I had gotten the camera for my birthday in January and this was really the first day nice enough to go out and try it. The park itself was disappointing, but as I was leaving, I decided to take a few shots of the covered bridge (also lost…grrrr). While I was doing that, I heard something underneath and climbed over the guardrail and sloshed through slush in my sneakers to see what it was. What luck! A swan and then some geese landed on shore. I then watched the funniest thing which I managed to capture and just wish I had more of the shots I took instead of just the couple I saved to computer.
The swan would not let the geese in the water! It would swim to the other shore and as soon as a goose approached the water it would swim back across the lake and chase it back on shore. I thought the geese would try to go in anyways, but turns out despite their reputation geese are big chickens when it comes to swans!
This was taken with a KodakEasy Share C813 camera, on auto setting and is only 512pxx384px
