Wild Turkey by

I have heard the wild turkeys in our countryside neighborhood for the last 14 years, but have only caught a glimpse of them. Yesterday they came to visit! At first I was a little intimidated by their size, but they were not aggressive at all! In fact, they seemed to like me- followed me around for over an hour! The males were in competition over 2 females- must be that spring is already in the air. It was amazing! Taken with my Nikon D60 w/200 mm lens. Photographed in Dripping Springs, Hays County, Texas USA

Awesome shot, my dream shot actually! Bravo to you for this fabulous close up!

  • Thank you so much Tina! They were incredible to shoot! I didn’t know that they could change the color of their wattles- and their feathers were iridescent. Beautiful, yet ugly at the same time. They look like a prehistoric bird! lol! thanks again for the kind words and visit! Cathy
