I am self taught and believe that I have a gift and must share it with the world. The interplay of light in nature is one of the earths most wonderful gifts and I try my best to capture that moment in time.

now that is some intense lightning! I know what it feels like to be that close to them as well. I just recently caught a couple of bolts at 20mm, and that was blooming close!

  • Hi Rikki. Thank you for all of your comments on my photos. Wow, 20mm…that is close. This was one intense night. Lightning was everywhere and striking at about 8 strikes per minute!! I have a movie on YouTube that has the 30 best shots I took that night. Just search for “Lightning Santa Maria”.

I bet it was hard to capture it, looks amazing!

  • It took quite a few tries as we don’t get storms like this, but I was finally able to hone it in. Thank you for commenting.

Nice….. Y’all get many lightning storms out there?

  • Thank you Dennis! No we don’t. This was a very rare storm. The National Weather Service called it a 50 year storm.

BTW…is this shooting back toward Vandenburg or just north?

  • I am looking due west towards the Santa Maria Valley. Vandenberg is just south, south west of this. I take it you are familiar with this area.
