Drifting sadly in the breeze
Shifting as it should, the season
as we did, without reason
The day your cold goodbye
Dropped me to the ground
broken and dry, forgotten I lay
without hope for another day
of brilliant bright sunshine
of warmth and light to touch me
like the summer in your eyes
all that remains is the winter lies
of what was and never could be
of tears that doesn’t seem to dry
So I find myself looking up
and blowing down the last leaf
with a sigh
