roadtrip
I want to drive with you
until we lose the road
and throw the map away
to dance in all the open places
we never dared before to stay
Touching our rocks of hurt
breaking our wall of defense
exploring our caves of fear
and sit quietly together
with strength to shed a tear…
for all the hurt and dust
that has shaped our masks
with violent and polite ease
and for how we kept it on
even when we were on our knees
Then let the moment come
to cut these swinging lines
of pretend, hiding and pain
so we find the map that’s ours
and be washed clean with the rain
