The real ones were made by Malvern Star.

They had sissybars on the back, banana seats (with flowers if you were a girl), a gear stick and those wicked handlebars.

We used to peg bits of cardboard to the spokes, so that you made engine noises as you rode along ……

I’m a wife.
A mother.
I work.
I blog.
I photograph.
I design tees.
I’m tired.

Hi, my name’s Cathie – although I am mostly animated and a bit of a character – I am a real person and like to think of myself as a digital artist. I occasionally revert to my original persona – taking “straight” photos!

Good work Cathie. Mine was a glittering burnt orange Malvern Star, very schpicko.

mine had psychedelic flowers on the seat and a basket with a flower on the front… I remember the front tyre going through a gutter drain once and I flipped head over handlebars, squashed my poor little basket :-( squished it…

upload it to rumplo cath… don’t let them stop you getting exposure, make yourself a right pain in the tshirt arse….

One Xmas, one brother got this and the other a Raliegh Chopper! I was so jealous, I got a walkie talkie doll, what was I sposed to do with that! Long story, wrote a poem about it, but haven’t put it back up.
You’re conjuring up all sorts of memories now Cathie.
I love the colour and placement, looks really cool.

Oh and I used to find that using cut bits from ice cream containers worked infinitely better than cardboard… dem were the days.

We had to make ours out of regular bikes using chrome chair legs as handle bars.
Of course we did the cardboard bit.

My friend Sharon got one for Christmas, the same year I got a boring sensible Standish one.

My dad sat on her bike and the front wheel came off … drove the forks into the road! Thank heavens he wasn’t riding it!!
