The Few
” Never, in the field of human conflict, was so much owed, by so many, to so few.” Winston Churchill, 20 August 1940, at the height of the Battle of Britain.
We had the pleasure of these Historic aircraft, Lancaster Bomber, Hurricane, and Spitfire, at the Dawlish Air Show, 14/08/08.
The roar of 6 Rolls Royce Merlin Engines made the hair on your neck stand up.
Hope you like it.
Thanks for looking.

Catherine, I am so pleased to see this great picture and the words from Winston Churchill,There is no doubt he was a great leader at the right time. I went to is home at Chartwell in Kent some years back and took some tremendeous pictures at that time,I cannot express the emotion that was there, I felt at the time is spirit was still present within is sitting room, I was so taken by the shear experience of that visit during that year i paid four more visits I can honestly say that no one as every made that impession on me. I remember as a youngster watching is state funeral in black and white, that made a great impession until I visited Chartwell, that made me realise he was a true Warrior of is time and inspired us as a nation to Freedom.
Catherine Veal replied
Thank you so very much Keith for your most wonderful comment. I am so pleased it stirred some emotions, I know exactly how you feel, as i had the same feeling yesterday over a journal Lee Martin put on and that brought me to tears. It is so lovely that we can be stirred by words or pictures, dont you think? x

This almost like a painting very impressed , as you know Scamtom washter bas i pass it going to work , and Tatersal ,,not spaelt right but its where they keep all the flight , had the good fortune to be shown around once and have treated some veterans one who flew many missions and told me all about Douglas Barder
also last month one guy who was a navigator half his hand blown off went to him in a nursing home 90 yrs old asian and polish staff thought he was aggressive and wanted him sedated he was with his wife of 50 years and hey had seperated them at night time he was looking for her . when i got talking to him he was amazing remembered al missions and showed me his hand . said it naird abit at the time ..
Catherine Veal replied 11 days ago
many thanks Nicky for your kind comment, yes if you actually listen to old folk its amazing how interesting they can be. They may not remember what happened five minutes ago, but they can remember every detail of things that happened fifty years ago. And such a shame to seperate a couple no wonder he’s angry. It was nice you spent some time with him, I’m sure he appreciated it. These people shouldn’t be in the job if they have no compassion. Take care hon don’t work to hard over Christmas, have a good one.x

Beautiful capture Catherine., what an awesome sight to behold.. I have only seen old planes such as this in museum. In fact we visited a museum in Utah and met two old WW2 pilots who were stationed in England. Flying missions over Germany flying B17’s. they even had a small piece of rock from the “White Cliffs of Dover”. The Americans did so much for the small English town, that the English citizens donated a gorgeous stained glass window depictin
aussiedi 8 days ago
oops.. depicting the White Cliffs of Dover the US and English flags, w hite dove of piece and I think there was a plane in there as well, it has pride of place in the church at Hills Airforce Base in Roy,Utah
