A Piece of Paper..........................

I’m starting a Fine Arts degree in a week. If there is anyone else that has or is completing this degree and can offer any advice it would be most gratefully accepted. The degree is online, and this in itself is pretty scary.

When I asked my teacher about a degree at Tafe he seemed to just think it was a piece of paper and really not necessary.

The thing is I would love to gain a degree in Fine Art. I thought about it long and hard and really want this will all my heart. I hope I will make it, and if I don’t…..well it won’t be the end of the world or for the lack of determination and dedication……fingers and toes crossed.

"New Artist" Tyron Lane

I would like to introduce a wonderful young Aboriginal artist Tyron Lane. I have known Tyron since he was a young lad and he has grown into a fine young man. I’ve been friends with Tyron’s mum Tracy for many years, but we had lost touch. I caught up with Tracy recently and discovered that Tyron had grown into an amaizing artist.

I want to support Tyron, so I’ve created a redbubble account for him. I’m currently creating a portfolio for him and adding his work to redbubble. I’m so excited about his work and potential that I wanted to share it with my friends.
Please welcome him to the bubble.

Opening Night Sydney 13 Sept 2011

Thought I’d share some pics of the opening night in Sydney for Slick City Chicks.

Even though I spent a decent chunk of my life in Sydney 12 – 30 thirty… umm I still managed to get lost…not once but twice. Firstly after a long drive down the coast I got lost in the middle of the city. Trying to find a park near the venue to drop of my work was extremely frustrating I would find where I had to go only to loose it again drifting along with the traffic….one way streets ahhhh, horns bipping……three hours later Cate is at the Entertainment centre in tears oh God it all seems so ridiculous now looking back on it. So I got there with the work. Then it was dark and I was lost again trying to find my way around in the dark I ended up at a backpackers in Bo…

"Slick City Chicks" Exhibition 13th September - 23rd October

I have the honour of being invited to exhibit with 9 wonderfully talented Sydney based artists. The exhibition is called “Slick City Chicks”…. they maybe should have added “and one Country Bumpkin….”

Each artist is exhibiting four works. If you are able it would be wonderful to see you there.

My four works will be “Comming Home”, “Metamorphisis”, “Freaked Out Fish”, and “Exotic Vision”.

Tim Tams and Photo Shoots

As you may or may not know Focus Magazine are doing a feature on me in next months issue, September 2011.

What you may not know is that I really struggle with my weight ….most of my life really. Sometimes I win, other times the weight wins. Well this is one of those times where the weight has won……but the battle is definately not over.

Why am I going here?? Well I just got through a photo shoot for the interview. So I promised to journal the feature, and some of you may get a shock at how big I am. I clearly was never going to be a candidate for Australia’s next top model… so prepare yourselves ok.

I did manage to loose ten kilos over summer with lots of hard work…. then bang my studio just happens to be in my dinning room, which just happens to be loca…

Join me at the Juried Invitational Exhibition…

I am very excited to exhibit in SoJie 12. SoJie 12 takes its name from the first letters of Solo’s Juried Invitational Exhibition. This month is only the 12th one, ever, and 120 other members of the Solo Exhibition group, besides myself, are represented.

This exhibition is based on a workshop, in which I participated, where member artists translated member photographers’ images to traditional art medium.

Winners of the invitational will be announced on August 31st, when a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in three categories: digital art…

Latest News August 2011 SoJie 12 ..... Interview with Focus Magazine

Join me at the Juried Invitational Exhibition…

I have two works in the latest SoJie 12 Juried Invitational Exhibition where Traditional Artists were asked to translate works from Selected Photographers. It is really exciting to be part of a show full of talented artists.

The whole process of watching works develop was both interesting, and insightful.

For me the best part of the whole process was meeting other artists and being inspired by the vast pool of talent here on redbubble.

I hope you enjoy the show, I’m sure you will be blown away by the quality of the work of the artists involved.

My works in the exhibition are “The Girl From Montreal” translated from Nathalie Chaput’s “Catherine” and
