I’m glad you like it Duncan I just have to put the finishing touches and it will be done…..one down and two to go.

I really couldn’t believe it when I stood back and looked at it…. I thought did I really do that??? lol.

Well I am so happy with it I can’t paint over it and when you see it in person I think you will understand even more. It was so funny Daniel my 11 year old son came out in the morning and looked at it and said “mum it’s just like leonardo da vinci’s Mona Lisa lol so cute that my son is comparing me to Da Vinci (hmmm I wish).

Thanks so much for stopping by Steve, I’ve been so busy sorry I haven’t been in touch. This is the first of three 6ft by 2ft panels I am doing. I’ve been doing like 3 or 4 am mornings for the past month just researching. I don’t think people realise how much effort goes into some work.

The work currently is at the stage of experimental drawing two. I worked out the rest in photoshop today and came up with the name Whispers from the dreaming. I have been influenced by many things but especially a story from the dreamtime. I will probably finish it in the next day or two and upload.

I have been sharing the journey of my class exhibition and this is the first part of my current work.

it is a lot stronger when you see the original. When I showed my teacher the design for this he said it reminded him of iconic art from Greece and Russia.

Thank you Terry, I am a student atm and this is really the begining of my journey. I started by studying design and so found photoshop a great a great tool with infinate possibilites. I don’t want to ever limit myself as an artist …who knows where the journey will take me next,

Thank you so much. I pretty much taught myself photoshop so if I can I’m sure you can. I was studying design but my teacher at the time ….. well lets just say I didn’t get it from him. I would go home and sit til all hours of the morning teaching myself. Once you get the layers thing it opens up a whole new world to you.

Hi Margaret I’m not sure if I will paint it now as I am so pleased with the pastel. I am going to concentrate on the soft theme with the other two panels. I’ll just see where it leads me and go with the flow. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Bev thank you they are still being worked out atm… geez the life of an artist … think… think….think all I ever do. I was sitting on the lounge looking at the three panels the other day when my son Daniel came up to me and said “how boring is it to be an artist sitting there for two hours looking at your work.” lol it’s anything but boring, all consuming yes boring never.

Thank you so much for the feature, this is only my second Pastel work and I am sure there will be more, it is truly a wonderful medium.

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. This is a work in progress at the moment. It is a photograph of my original pastel drawing with some extras added in photoshop. I decided though that it was an artwork of its own merit. I will update the original when I have completed the pastel work. It is only the background and design that are photoshop.

Hi Stephen I really appreciate your dropping in. I have had a look at your gallery and must say I am very impressed. This work is with pastel. I originally did a pastel map but loved it so much I couldn’t stand to paint over it. I know I’m a chicken lol. Any way I am trying to figure out how to get the affect I want using pastel. There is a drawing competition called the JADA up in Grafton just north of here. It’s a wonderful competition and I can enter this if I keep to pastel. That’s one of the main reasons I don’t want to paint it. I feel though that I have become too precsious with it atm. So yep basically I am stuck and need to take that next step. Thank you so much for your kindness.

Thanks Clare … It was crazy when I did my first session on this I stepped back from it and thought wow did I really do this?? Anyway it’s my favourite of all my work so far… and in a way it shows how far I have come.
