Geisha Dreaming

Acrylic, and gold leaf on paper.

This work started out as therapy. I was applying the background in swirls and with my hands, throwing paint at the canvas and using many different paintbrush’s, it was an eratic outpouring of emotions. When I stood back and looked at it, I saw this serene geisha appearing out of the swirling chaos. It was so calming, I don’t know what she is dreaming about. Some of the composition was worked out with the help of photoshop.

The way you told it…
it appears to be a transformation from chaos to harmony.
the way I see it … is the emerging of chaos from an apparent harmony.
You see… in our subconsciousness tiem dos not exist.. neither is interpreted with our usual mental procedure of cause-effect….but it is interpreted in an outburst of soul-events… trying to converge into the core of our Self.
She is quiet… harmonious… yes…. as it is the calm sea… when it is calm… but having all the possibilities of rage… tempest and chaotic behaviour..
I love the idea… and the contrast.. we learn by contrasting with emotions… and sensations.

Wow interesting interpretation Rosa. I told the story of how it emerged, from me throwing paint onto the canvas and using my hands and lots of different brushes. When I stood back from the canvas I saw her. So I developed what I saw. Initially it was somewhat of an experiment. I am usually so ordered and structed with my work and designs, this was hard for me to do just to let go, and pour everything out. Well my mind is free and I feel open, but in the construction of things it’s a different story.

lol it can be a pretty outrageous place my mind. Constantly clicking, putting images together. It was really hard for me actually, this painting to just let go and see what happens. Normally although my work is out-there I’m pretty structured. I was painting with a friend yesterday and the comment I got was I should do more of the letting go thing.
