Hmmm… put that one on the back burner for now…
10 days later and… hmmm maybe I should have a go at that logo thing,... now what was the brief… ummm, no brief… they just want a new logo…
okay, I’ve been around enough graphic artists in my time to know how to do that… I’ll just have to invent my own brief! Let’s see…
1) It has to be based on a piece of photography… not pure photoshop!
2) it has to include the words Real Photographers Alliance
3) It has to convey a sense of professionalism.
Hmm that’s enough of a brief for now… so…. what have others contributed?... Okay.. a few nice images and the words put over them… ah, that ones a bit more like a proper logo…but, well… it’s a bit cliche…
okay…
4) Avoid cliche’s, so… no Iris’s… no eye’s and no cameras.
Hmmm Its also winter here, so don’t even bother with the outside world!
STUDIO…
Ah… make it general… not specific to one single genre of photography, people here are into all sorts of different types of photography…
5) Make it general.
Okay… I need the toilet… Hum ti tum, tinkle, tinkle.. I wonder if I can spell the letters RPA in photographs…taken in my studio. well a model could pose in the shape of the letters… but the P is going to be tricky…oh i suppose I could get her to hold my reflector… yep, that would work…and the A she could bend over and hold something like a rolled up photographic brolly across her knees ummm not very elegant tho… and the R is just her standing in a sort of “I’m a teapot” kind of pose… but it’s all a bit suggestive and ummm…cliche… must have seen that done a thousand times…. so no model! that just leaves the props… hmmm I wonder….
TRIPODS, LIGHTING STANDS, REFLECTORS, UMBRELLAS, LADDERS Oh and that ring light I made!
Hmmm… Seems like a plan!

I can assure you Karen … No polo mints were harmed during the creation of this logo! lol … Its a home made ring light that you can shoot through… will pump out a max of 480w and is adjustable down to about 20w. A very useful bit of kit!
