Baker Street
This is how it would look framed:

I’d like you to indulge me a little whilst you look at this image of Baker Street Station as it will help you to see it though my eyes. To help you do this I found a video of Gerry Rafferty playing his 70’s hit ‘Baker Street’
I can never seem to walk through this station without the sound of that amazing sax running through my head, and since I spent 20 years of my life traveling through this station, every day, on my way to work, the words of the song seem so very relevant for me; this is an image of my home.
Baker Street is also the home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s world famous detective Sherlock Holmes. You will find tourists wandering about this part of London looking for the place he was supposed to live… almost as if he were haunting it. I think perhaps that when I’m gone we will probably both end up wandering these platforms, me and a man that never existed – how fitting.

This is one of the best I’ve seen in a long long time. I’ve taken transportation photos for the railway industry and rarely do the shots include feeling. Fabulous work!
Trevor Patters... replied
Thank you Dave, It’s quite difficult to add a sense of feeling to an image, but this one is such a familiar view for me that I knew just exactly how to do it.
Caroline Fournier
Great photo and great song reference. Only one of the best songs of the 70’s!!! I love the bluish tone to it and selective colouring! Great job!

From one left brained, visual thinker to a right brained logical one…
Thank you so very much Caroline for the lovely comment! :O)

Now I’ve got that sax running through my head too. Brilliant captured image Trevor. Perfectly framed. And nice work with the selective colour highlights. What a fascinating station Baker Street seems.
Trevor Patters... replied
Thanks Keiran… A fascinating station indeed it was built buy the victorians and has been added to many times over the years, this is the top level which services the Metropolitan line, but there are another 4 levels below this one that service the district, circle, bakerloo and Julilee lines, with massive steel bomb doors that were built during WWII that turn the lower levels into a huge bomb shelter.
Keiran Lusk
Wow. More fascinating than I could have possibly imagined! Four levels? Steel doors and massive bomb shelters? What an intriguing labyrinth of trains, people and buildings. Thanks Trevor – you have a fantastic portfolio.

Great capture, and I can relate to the song playing in your head when you go to a particular place. To me it’s Spryo Gyra (more lovely sax music) when I’m in NYC.. Ah, music and art what would life by without it!!
