The magical Fern Pool in Karijini National Park, where the serpent ancestors of the Aboriginal people were said to create the landscape when the earth was still soft as they weaved their way through the land. The serpents are said to still inhabit the waterhole.
This was one of my favourite spots in Karijini. After a long hot hike through the gorge floor, feeling a bit ‘gorged out’, and then coming out of the dark trees into this serene pool was like I’d arrived at paradise.
