Life is Like a Knife Cutting a Slice of Time

Life can be fragile.
Life doesn’t care.
Life is tenacious.
Life isn’t fair.

Life is a gift
with an expiration date.
Yet some people who know this
still fill it with hate.

Life’s oh so precious,
yet wars make it seem cheap.
Life’s filled with real dangers,
yet people still sleep.

Life’s mostly a series of
“hellos” and “good-byes”
filled with a mixture
of truths and of lies.

Life can seem like a dream,
or a mushy love song.
Life can be a nightmare
where everything’s wrong.

For most, life ends too soon.
Yet some cut their lives short.
Some sail into the storm,
others search for a port.

Life’s all we have
with it’s days, weeks, and years.
You can fill it with peace.
You can fill it with fears.

Life might be so harsh
that some people can’t cope.
Although people with faith
think that life’s full of hope.

Life is a puzzle
that few people solve.
Most people don’t “get it”,
but some will evolve.

Life is simple.
Life is complex.
Life’s filled with wondering
what will come next.

Life’s what you make
of the cards you were dealt.
Some rise to the top
while others just melt.

For some life is a challenge
that every day they must nail.
Some don’t even try
then complain when they fail.

Life has no meaning.
Life means everything.
Your life may be ending,
or just taking wing.

There was darkness before life,
and there will be darkness after.
What lies in-between
is personal bliss and (or) disaster.

Just a little meditation on the meaning of life that came to me one day when I was in a fairly cynical mood.
