New "Nikon" Kid on the Block...

Christmas arrived very early today with a stunning gift from my husband. He went out early this morning and a short while later returned and placed a large bag in front of me that read “Kerrisdale Cameras”. Inside was the most fantastic Nikon camera. He bought me the brand new Nikon D7000 camera!!!.

I secretly wanted one, ever since I read about them, but never dreamed he would surprise me this way. To say I am thrilled and excited is an understatement. His rationale behind the purchase was that he observed how much I was enjoying my photography and my participation on Redbubble and he wanted me to have something better. What a sweetie! Well, girls and guys, do you think I should keep him for another week anyway (not the camera… my husband)?! It’s going to…

*Announcing my Labour of LOVE!!!*

I have just completed compiling my first calendar using photos of roses and words of love. I hope you will find it inspirational. I am always open to your constructive suggestions on how I can improve. Your comments will be much appreciated.

It was indeed a “labour of love” for me and while compiling it, I had a lot of time to reflect on the various meanings of love in my life. May it do the same for you.

I would be overjoyed if someone bought it!!!

My love to all my lovely Redbubble friends!!

A Surpise Discovery!

I was surfacing the net and to my surprise and delight I discovered one of my photos on the Facebook site for my favorite garden…VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Here is what they put on their page:

They have their own official photographer for the garden and his photos are usually highlighted on the site, so to see one of my photos there was such a nice surprise.

I am so pleased to have finally won a challenge after faithfully entering so many over the past 10 months. Even my husband is thrilled because he is one of the subjects in the photo. Thanks to all those who voted. Here is the my first challenge win photo:

Went to Photograph & Ended up at the Movies!!!

Today I headed over to Van Dusen Botanical Gardens in Vancouver “to see what was new”. I started wandering through the paths and over the lawns in search of that perfect photo. Armed with my Nikon camera with the 55-200mm lens attached, I was ready for what the gardens would reveal. Sometimes I get so engrossed in what I am looking at I lose sight of where I am actually walking. Well, today I came upon a group of people gathered in the distance all milling around with various breeds of dogs. All of a sudden a young man was at my side urging me to come with him over to the far side of the expanse of lawn. It wasn’t until I got to where he directed me that I heard him “whisper”, “you can’t go that way because you will be in the scene”!! …
