Troubled Heart (Image and Poem) by

Troubled Heart
Written By CarolM

I awoke one morning
All alone
To find my world had gone away
What happened?

So much hurt lies inside
Why?

I pray I’m really not awake
But with every breath I take
I feel the pain of my broken heart

I yearn for the love
That kept me alive
My troubled heart sighs
Sometimes it cries

Sorrow comes in many forms
My troubled heart is one
I’m drowning in my crimson blood

I gasp to breathe,
I fall to my knees

I feel my heart will never mend
What lies within is my own sin

In my troubled heart
Your flowers still grow
The ones that smell so sweet

Entwined in the pain
They will always bloom
They are the only thing I have left to hold
When I weep

I’ve made mistakes I can’t deny
Why?

It’s my time to cry.

I believe that the way we live our life is a affected by the choices we make. Be careful, one wrong decision, one fleeting desire, can bring unforgiving pain to the one you love.

Image created from a photo of a bush (heart was cut out of it) and a photo of flowers layered and digitally manipulated.

I am happy to share my vision with you and I hope that it touches you in some small way.

Such an intense and moving poem, Carol. You were on the mark when you said that one wrong decision can have devastating effects on those around us. The image you created is a powerful partner to your words.

  • Thank you Patricia for you comments and insight. It makes my heart break when I see someone that has ruined their life for some simple pleasure. The consequences can be far more than one can imagine. I feel that life is full of choices and the path we choose is up to us.

You are so right, Carol. Life is filled with forks in the road. Sometimes we are unsure which path to take. But more often than not, the choice is clear. When one takes the wrong road, knowingly, it’s like a stone thrown in the water. The ripples of that bad choice radiates outward and affects everyone in the circle of that person.
