Mama loved to cook and we loved when she made fresh baked bread. Its wonderful fresh aroma would fill the kitchen air.
Her homemade fried pies and apple cobblers – They were the best, especially with homemade vanilla ice cream.
Her biscuits and gravy were so warm and delicious. I can still remember how they tasted and that cornbread, Yum!
Every Sunday, Mama made the best roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Boy was it good. That roast beef would melt in your mouth.
Her fried chicken was really special. When you took a bite all you could do was say, “mmmmmmm.” I use to tell her she should open a business just selling her fried chicken.
Mama always made cookies for our after school snack and I looked forward to coming home for that warm chocolate chip, oatmeal or peanut butter cookie and a cold glass of milk.
Oh Yes, Mama knew how to cook, that’s for sure and I don’t dare, tell my wife,
“That’s not the way Mama made it.” or “Why don’t you ask Mama for her recipe?”
No sane man should do that!!!!!!
Grin and bear it boys. If it doesn’t come in a box and can be fixed in the microwave, you ain’t gettin’ it.
