This beautiful romantic garden in the French village of Giverny inspired me to this impressionist silk painting. The village is actually famous for its artist Claude Monet who lived there, too. Although I was impressed by Monet’s lovely huge garden with its famous pond and the waterlilies,I fell in love with that unknown property shown in my silkpainting. I’d really love to live there.

Congratulations, Caroline. I love your silk-painting:-) I painted some silk scarves this summer in the wet-on-wet style. I’m wondering how you can get so much detail. Isn’t it also very difficult to stretch the silk, as you appear to have done? Do please tell me more:-)) Ruth

  • thank you very much, Ruth. Yes, I stretched the silk before painting on it.The streching isn’t that difficult once you have got routine with it. I painted all the details in a special technique, adding a kind of thickener to the silk dye. With those thickened colors I could almost paint on silk like on paper.
Thanks a lot for your interest in my silk painting.
