I’ve just got a job shooting a Russian Orthodox wedding in October …done several other weddings, but never one of these, and not sure of any special protocols I need to be aware of …anyone had any experience please ?
Thanks, Cas

    why not ask the B & G? :)

  • Caroline Gorka replied

I have, naturally ...he is Australian, and she isn’t sure regarding photography …that’s why I have asked here LOL

Eat some caviar, and drink some vodka?

If the B&G don’t have any demands, then you don’t need to worry :)

Ask them for a list of must have shots apart from the standard western wedding ones, and if they give you a blank sheet… then that’s even better !

I did a Russian wedding once. Pretty much the same with a long and protracted ceremony (just shoot everything) and the reception had some cool cultural influences. Again.. I shot everything I saw. Most of these type of photos don’t need to be artistic in nature, but rather a memory shot for them to look back on. You just need to be there to shoot it all.

Thanks Hien – as long as I don’t tread on any cultural toes, I’m happy :)

If you know the name of the church you could ask their staff or the priest. Most churches have an office manager or something. I was acquainted with an Orthodox monk for a while – he was quite laid-back.
