Amur Tiger
Amur tigers live in the far eastern provinces of Russia. They are the largest and heaviest of the tiger subspecies. Sadly they are critically endangered and there are various conservation initiatives to enhance their chances of survival.
This beautiful tiger is at Dartmoor Zoological Park at Sparkwell near Plymouth. This little zoo is making great efforts to enrich the environments of their animals and their tiger enclosure has recently had an extreme makeover. They have a number of big cats including lynx and a jaguar.
Amur Tiger belongs to the following groups:
Big Cats, Exotic Mammals and Zoophoria (2 per day, approval required)

Fantastic macro, wondrous capture, beautiful beast, gorgeous colour. Let’s hope they breed in captivity. I know it is not ideal, but at least they are safe from man!!!!

Hi MrB. I took this picture a few weeks ago when the weather was less Siberian. I bet the light there today would have been superb. Maybe we’ll see you at DZP some time?
