Pastel on Sanded Paper
This is at the northern end of Bar Beach in Newcastle. The light hitting the cliff face and colours of the wet sand were what drew me to paint this scene.

GEORGE SANDERSON
Beautiful composition, Carole !
the perspective and the colours are excellent !

Thank you George – I am really happy you like it. I am new to Red Bubble so your encouraging words are most appreciated.

Gorgeous
I had never heard of using sandpaper before but my cuz (great pastel artist) said it is a great way to get unique effects.
You certainly seem to have succeeded.
You have captured this view
(that I am quite fond of) brilliantly. Bravo
Carole Elliott replied
Thank you KazM. It is actually a special sanded paper specifically for pastels. It means you do not need to use a fixative as it holds the pastel particles well. It is one of my favourite coastal views also.
