Artist's Description

Zebra Portrait. Plains or Savanna or Common Zebra, Equus quagga, Akagera National Park, Rwanda, East Africa.
Zebras are African equids best known for their distinctive black and white stripes. Their stripes come in different patterns unique to each individual. The park covers 1,200km² in eastern Rwanda, against the Tanzanian border. It was founded in 1934 to protect animals and vegetation in three ecoregions, savannah, mountain and swamp. There is a serious poaching problem in the park which is being addressed but does mean the loss of life of rangers as well as poachers.
Canon 500D, zoom lens.
