Posted on September 17, 2009

I’m so naughty as haven’t uploaded any images yet instead just raking them and enjoying my time over here. Hence also haven’t been on red bubble to comment and view all your great images.

I landed in St Ives this afternoon and am blown away. So many photo opportunities every where you look. In the area for a week so will be exploring lots of areas around here and might just have to save mg last few days just chilling looking out at that amazing harbour and soaking up all the atmosphere. Plus there us a music festival on here so will be seeking out some good music.

Who needs Europe when you have such great places like this!!!
St Ives actually reminds me of a town in the cinque terre in Italy!

So guys I am taking heaps of shots but so don’t know when I will have time to upload as having far too good if a time.

They will get on here eventually….. Promise!!

Love to all

Its SE Cornwall, diagonally across from St Ives.
I actually live 240kms from St Ives, so not far away.
If you go to a place called Helston, in Meneage St, there is a shop called the Horse and Jockey.
Get yourself a Pasty there. Very nice and filling.
    Also, Check out the group.

  • Carmel Harty:

Ahhh I see it now on the map. It’s quite a bit higher up than st Ives … is it worth soening some time there? Will for sure check out the group!

    Hi Ya gorgeous..
Don’t ya just love those shops on the hill.
When you get to the bottom of the shops, you have to have a look at one of the oldest pubs in Britain.
I think it was built in the 1300’s, and it’s so tiny. We had a meal there.
    .
Another place that is a must, and is just up the road is St.Michael’s Mount.
Now that is to die for.
You can walk out to it, and then get a small boat back again.
    Another photographer’s paradise.

  • Carmel Harty:

They sure are to die for. Will look out for that pub! I are at a fantastic one overlooking the harbour since was my first night here. Locals gave told me about St Michaels mount so will put it on my list as a must see. Such a great feeling that have a whole week here!!!!!

Looe and a short drive or bus ride away, Polperro.
Also, nearer to you is the Lizard Peninsula. Some lovely little fishing villages and coves.
Poldhu, Mullion, Gumwalloe, Kynance, Lizard Point, and a great fish and chip shop in the Lizard Village, called Smugglers, Cadgwith cove, Coverack. All those places are on the Peninsula.
Also, a Satellite tracking station,(Goonhilly) one of the largest on the planet is on the Peninsula. Tours are available, and it has a Segway Track there. :-))

  • Carmel Harty:

Wow thanks so much Richard. Sounds like so many wonderful places to see. Luckily I have hired a car so will be able to get about most of them. Have some planning to do. Am so glad I did this post as learning heaps. Thanks heaps!!

If your into Megolithic, thre is a Dolmen beside the Rd called " Lanyon’s Quoit" that is worth a photo, especially as a silhouette., as well as the old Tin Mines.

    Richard Hamilt...

If the weather is bad someday, there is always the Eden Project where you can spend the whole day.

  • Carmel Harty:

Tomorrow am catching a train to Plymouth and picking up a hire car fir a couple days. Planning on heading over first to Padstow and Port Isaac which I plan to stay there. If have time left will perhaps visit Looe for the next night or visit one of the moors. I guess will depend on the weather but 48 hrs in that area any last min tips?

  • Richard Hamilton-Veal

    Richard Hamilt...

    Padstow, get there early.
It gets very busy and is expensive, but pretty.
From Plymouth, you could head north for Tavistock and the western edge of Dartmoor.
Lydford Gorge and Village is nice. You could also head for Bude, on the North Coast of Cornwall, then work your way down to Port Isaac and then Padstow, then cut across to Looe and Polperro.
If you think you will be there for the weekend, I will BM you my phone number.
We should be in Looe approx 11am Saturday morning.
Hope you are having a good time and enjoying yourself.

  • Carmel Harty:

That’s a great route. Have heard that the Dartmoor is very interesting to see and could do a round trip with lots of stops. It’s possible the more I think about it that I might still be down here but just realised have booked my return train ticket on Thursday and not sure if can change dates. If running out of time will miss Padstow and head to Looe for the wed night. Mmm … wish now that I didn’t book my train ticket!
