Life works in mysterious ways by Carmel Harty

Posted on July 13, 2009

I had lost contact with a dear friend that had travelled with in 2000, in Sth America and later in England and Scotland. We were tent buddies in Argentina america, hiked in patagonia, met up later in Bolivia, hiked in the Lakes District and in scotland and finished off with her friends near Skye. We built up such an amazing friendship but for various reasons we had lost contact.

Since I was going over there had to work out how to contact her.
All addresses, phone numbers and emails were obsolete, but remembered that her parents lived next to a catholic church. So….I did a google search, used my gut feeling and sent an email off to a church in the area that looked familiar. This was about two weeks ago so had thought my attempt had failed. I was then told that there are 50 catholic churches in that county so doubted my attempt even more.

But how wrong could I have been…I need to have more faith in my gut feelings as I received this email tonight.

‘I can’t believe how you tracked me down. I got your email via my sister and Tony who is the chaplain for the university but who is also a family friend and his sister is one of my best friends. Its a funny coincidence that you sent it to him’.

I am totally blown away and now back in contact with my lost lost favourite travel companion and my trip to London is now going to be so very special. Might need more than a months now!!

Life works in such mysterious ways…we all need to trust our instinct more!!

Just had to share my exciting news!!

    Way to go Carmel.
That’s why I am trusting my gut feeling and meeting up with “tkrosevear” Tammy and her husband Lynn. We are staying with them for a week in Oct when we go to the USA.
    Can’t wait.

  • Carmel Harty:

Thanks Larry! Instinct and gut feeling is generally the most reliable guide in life hey! Have a great time and should be back by then…but who knows!!!
